Desperate Faith, Divine Power, Mark 9:14-29

MARK: FOLLOW THE LEADER

Desperate Faith, Divine Power, Mark 9:14-29

Big Idea: Spiritual power doesn’t come by human ability; it flows through humble prayer.

 1. Trusting yourself leaves you powerless (v. 14–19)

  • Jesus condemns prayerless pride.

 2. Desperate faith unlocks divine power. (v. 20–27)

  • Evil throws a tantrum in the presence of Jesus.
  • "Help my unbelief”… reveals a fractured faith.

 3. Prayer plugs into God’s power (v. 28–29)

  • Prayer isn’t a last resort; it’s the only resort.
  • “Yes, No, Wait, Grow, or Go.” = the only answers possible.

What spiritual battle in your home, your workplace, or your heart have you been fighting in your own human strength?

Where do you need to bring your honest confession to Jesus and cry: "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief"?

“Faith lives in honest doubt.” Lord Alfred Tennyson, English poet
